Life coaching for individuals and family/parent coaching

Many times what we have imagined our family life will look like is a long way from our everyday reality! Emotions can get big quickly, and often our reactions are not consistent with what we actually value. Kim loves coming alongside parents to help make sense of behaviors and figure out ways to respond that are productive, increase connection, and create a positive atmosphere at home.
Kim also provides individual coaching for those who want to make changes or explore ways to make their lives more fulfilling and enjoyable. Often when we have a space to express what is in our heart in a safe environment, reflect on obstacles and brainstorm ideas for moving forward, we find the motivation we need to do so. Coaching provides an opportunity to recognize your strengths, identify practical steps to achieving your goals while receiving encouragement and accountability.

Hope and help when life gets hard Sometimes life circumstances, emotions, family struggles or parenting can feel draining, overwhelming, or hopeless. It can be difficult to know what steps to take next, or maybe it feels like you’ve tried everything and nothing is getting better. It is a privilege to meet with individuals and families who need someone to listen, care, and figure out how to move forward.
Anxiety, Adoption, Trauma, ADHD
These are some of the factors that impact adults and children and can make parenting challenging at times. While working in foster care/adoption agencies, churches, and private practice settings, I have gained a passion for seeing families strengthened. Parenting is a tough job! As a Play Therapist I value including parents in the counseling process when working with children and teens, providing encouragement, tools and suggestions for increasing connection and positive interactions at home.
In addition to children and families, I specialize in working with women on issues related to relationship difficulties, boundaries, depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma. I especially love including a Christian faith perspective if that is important to you.

It is said in the world of play therapy that play is a child’s language and toys are their words. Play therapy provides a safe environment where children can express their feelings, develop problem-solving skills, make changes in their behavior and improve social skills in a developmentally appropriate way. Playing and using toys give psychological distance that allows children to more readily engage in the counseling process. We provide parent consultations along with play therapy, in order to strengthen the therapy process. In addition we offer Child Parent Relationship Therapy, teaching parents play therapy skills to implement during special play times at home. Parents typically report a decrease in behavior problems and an increase in positive feelings toward their child when doing play sessions at home.
Kim is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and offers supervision for those seeking certification as a registered play therapist.

Retreats/Workshops
Topic-focused learning or retreats tailored for small, medium or large groups
Have you ever found yourself feeling discouraged or maxed out by the many demands you are juggling, or lacking needed support and care? A retreat might be just what your heart is needing.
-
Jesus himself prioritized taking time away from the crowds and his everyday life to retreat, pray, and spend quality time with his close friends. I have benefited greatly over the years by carving out time in my schedule for my own personal retreats or doing so with friends. We live busy lives, often doing many good things, and it can seem like we don’t have time to get away and focus on our own spiritual and emotional health. However, as we come away and allow ourselves to settle into the still waters and green pastures referenced in Psalm 23, we often find it brings perspective, encouragement and energy to be more effective and fueled for our relationships and roles. The retreats I offer are not content-driven, but rather they provide space and practices to facilitate connection in your relationship with God, reflection, and expression.

For those needing support and training in a specific area, see if one of the topics listed meets your needs. Workshops are intended to increase your understanding and equip you or those you are leading.
Depending on the content covered, they can be fun and interactive. If you are interested in a topic not listed, feel free to ask if we have expertise in that area. Many of the topics I speak about are ones I have had personal and professional experience with, so I understand how challenging they can be and want to encourage others by sharing what I have learned over the years.
